Day Trip to Shiran

The youth group at one of our churches asked Allen to come and speak during their retreat this weekend. The retreat is being held at a camp ground in Shiran, which is about an hour out of Trujillo headed into the Andes. Allen spoke on music in worship. We had a great time getting out of the city for the afternoon and seeing more of God's creation.

Abigail found a mango tree to climb. . . .

It rained quite a bit during our trip. Since we rarely get rain in the desert area where we live, the girls had a fun time playing in it. Abigail even found an umbrella to use.

Katie's Bridal Shower

This morning we hosted a bridal shower for Katie Gaylor who will be wed to our friend, Joshua Burdette, in July. They met and fell in love here in Peru as interns working in our English Institute. It has been neat to see how the Lord brought them together and we look forward to seeing how the Lord will work through them as a new family.

FUN. . . . .(some fun and interesting marital advice was given)

FOOD. . . .

FLOWERS. . . . (how romantic. . . Joshua sent her flowers during the shower)

And most importantly PRAYER. . . .We wish you all the best Joshua and Katie!

Happy Easter to You!

We wanted to say Happy Easter to all of you. We are filled with joy as we think of Christ's resurrection and how blessed we are to be able to call Him our Savior! We enjoyed our annual missionary kid Easter egg hunt again this year. As you can see, fun was had by all.

Some enjoyed eating their chocolate. . . .
While others tried out the fake Easter grass. . . .
And this is Annie, our pet chick. The girls received her as a party favor at a birthday party (Yes, that's right, a party favor. I have also seen parakeets given as party favors here). After loving on Annie for about a week, we decided it was best to let her go live with our friend Patti who has a chicken coop at her house. This way Annie has some friends of her own kind and we can go visit her whenever we want.

A Visit from Sandi's Parents

A few weeks ago my (Sandi) parents came to visit us in Peru. This was their second visit to Peru and we had a wonderful time! The girls enjoyed having them here for Valentine's Day, especially since they brought plenty of chocolate. We went to the Pacific Ocean for a day, which is just 15 minutes from our house and we also did some touring and shopping in Lima. But mostly, they played with their granddaughters and encouraged us.

Fun at the beach. . . .

They enjoyed seeing the progress of our mission churches. My dad especially enjoyed seeing the progress of the construction projects that he has helped with on their last visit.

This is picture of my dad in June '06 helping lay the foundation of the Arevalo medical clinic. . .

. . .and here are some pictures my dad took of the clinic this visit.
Thanks for all your love, support and encouragment Mom & Dad. We love you!!
