Thanks for your Prayers!

Thank you so much for your prayers last week as I made an unexpected trip to the US to be with family for my grandmother's funeral. Allen could immediately tell when you began to pray because the girls started to obey.

It was a bitter-sweet reunion with my family and I am so glad I was able to make the trip. The Lord greatly provided. I was able to purchase a plane ticket and be in Louisiana within 24 hours from receiving word from my father. My brother and his family picked me up from the airport and took me to get my first taste of american food in 13 months. Thanks Billy & Kristi!

I will dearly miss my Granny, but am glad she is personally with her Savior. I have never met another person with such sacrifical love and compassion for others. The best way to describe her is to read Proverbs 31, she was truely that kind of woman.

On the home front, the girls started attending a Montessori school in our neighborhood each morning. It is a very international school, there are Germans, Norweigans, Peruvians and our two American girls. They are enjoying the fellowship and learning lots of Spanish (and maybe some other languages too :-) Allen continues to stay busy with many ministry opportunities and I stay busy with helping Allen, keeping up with the girls, hospitality and getting some needed "pregnancy rest" in between.

Below are some recent pictures. Every Tuesday morning the missionary wives have a Bible study, this is always a very refreshing and encouraging time. I am so thankful for our missionary friends here in Peru. The other picture is of the girls first day of school here.

Thanks again for your many prayers and encouraging notes last week!

Sandi's "Granny" is Now in Glory

On Thursday after lunch we received notice that Sandi's grandmother, Maggie Lucille Beasley, had passed away early in the morning. Seven hours later Sandi was en route back to Louisiana to be with her family. She left so suddenly it was strange to wake up on Friday in the Peruvian heat thinking that Sandi was now bundled up in US winter.

Maggie Lucille was 86 when the Lord took her. We praise God that Granny died a faithful Christian. What I remember about Granny is her love to secretly help the poor, her frugal life style, and her ability to take abundant care of her extended family. Almost all our savings is due to Granny's selfless giving. While in seminary it was not uncommon to receive an unexpected check from her to help us in our financial difficulties. Click here to see the funeral details.

Sandi will fly back into Trujillo on Thursday morning. God has given me some wonderful time to spend with the girls. However, I do miss her and wish I could be there with her at the funeral. Please consider praying for us in the following manner:

1. Travel Safety. Sandi is 21 weeks pregnant and will fly most of Wednesday. She'll get into Lima, Peru around midnight. From there she'll take a taxi by herself to the missionary guesthouse, which is hosted by our Baptist friends. Then she'll get a few hours of sleep before she's back at the airport at 5:30 AM, from where she'll fly back to Trujillo. This is a tough itinerary for my pregnant wife traveling solo.

2. Family Comfort. Please pray that God would strengthened the Beasley family as they all come together for the visitation tonight. The good news is that Granny is with Jesus and that Sandi has a strong Christian family. They can find lasting comfort in their resurrected Savior, who has already taken away the sting of death!

3. Us Left Behind. I too deeply loved Granny and wish I could be with Sandi at the funeral. When I'm alone, I get sad and lonely. So please pray for me and the girls that we too would comfort one another in Christ during our separation. Thankfully, we have a great missionary family here that has been taking care of us, keeping us busy so we will not have many down times. It just occurred to me that I have to bath the girls and get them ready for Sunday church tomorrow. I don't even know how to fix their hair!

Thank you very much for praying for us. I can tell when you pray and when you don't pray for us. It is by your prayers that God carries us along in the strength of His might!

Pink News!

As promised, we wanted to share with you our "pink news". We went to the doctor last week and found out we are having una nina. She seemed very eager to show us she was a girl, so we found out very quickly. We are very excited to welcome another sweet girl into our family, although, Allen is going to be WAY out numbered now :-) I think Abigail and Adeline are excited or at least they were excited to get the pink balloons. Please continue to pray for Sandi's health and the health of the baby.
